The Lakehead University CSME Student Chapter is the student embodiment of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering. The Student Chapter was established over two decades ago when pioneering students sought to establish a campus society dedicated to advance and stimulate the minds of their fellow Mechanical Engineering peers. From its inception, the Lakehead University CSME Student Chapter has grown to be a society known for promoting student engagement and enhancing Engineering student life at Lakehead University. With annual events, including speaker and information sessions and the CSME National Design Competition, the student chapter serves as a direct link between motivated students and Engineering professionals.
In 2016, the society upgraded its office and resources to increase the amount of support and services it may provide for the students within the mechanical discipline. As a society, we hope to educate students on the various career paths available to them after University, bridge communication between the student body and industry, provide a means to network between fellow peers and industry professionals and, most of all, enhance student life and mental health during the difficult four years of their University degree.
